Description
A “stirrup cup” was traditionally a small cup containing an alcoholic beverage that was presented to a horseman before he set off for the day. This idyllic scene depicts this common custom taking place in the English countryside before a group of fox hunters and their hounds set out on their chase. Reproduction print of the original oil painting by English artist Heywood Hardy (1842-1933).
